POLARIS

Maori people were explorers utilizing techniques like star gazing and cloud mapping. Hence my collection name, POLARIS - the brightest northernmost star in the constellation Ursa Minor. This acts as foundational toward its retrospective approach. It pertains to history, mythology, and cultural practices that championed our people through greatness. It also celebrates the liberation of our women, specifically the Māori women in my life. Our stories personify land and animal to teach people the oneness of all that exists. This project aims to do the same.
